Why Seek After Jesus Christ? Why Walk in His Steps? Why Is He Called the Good Shepherd?

To seek after Jesus Christ is to pursue the only One who gives eternal life and reveals the Father. Yeshua (Jesus) is not just a wise teacher or moral example—He is the living Word, the Son of God, and the only door to salvation.

He said:

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” (John 14:6, LSB)

This is not a suggestion but a declaration. To seek Him is to seek truth, life, and reconciliation with God. Without Him, we remain lost in darkness and sin.

To walk in His steps is to follow the path of righteousness He walked before us—obedient, humble, and faithful to the Father. Peter wrote:

“For to this you have been called, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in His steps.” (1 Peter 2:21, LSB)

Yeshua’s life is not only to be admired but followed. He walked in perfect obedience, in love for God and for others, even enduring suffering without sin. Those who follow Him are not promised ease, but they are promised fellowship, purpose, and everlasting life.

Yeshua called Himself the Good Shepherd. This is not only a title—it reveals His heart:

“I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” (John 10:11, LSB)

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish—ever; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. (John 10:2728, LSB)

The Good Shepherd knows His sheep personally. He leads, protects, and provides for them. More than that—He gave His life to redeem them. To follow Him is not to follow a stranger but a Shepherd who laid down His life in love.
