What is Truth?

Truth is not merely a concept or abstract principle—it is personal, absolute, and divine. According to Scripture, truth originates in Yahweh, is expressed in His Word, and is revealed through His Son, Yeshua the Messiah.

Jesus plainly declared, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” (John 14:6, LSB). Truth, therefore, is not just a doctrine—it is embodied in the person of Christ. In Him, the fullness of divine truth is revealed, not as one of many options, but as the only way to know and approach the Father.

This truth is also anchored in God’s Word. In prayer to the Father, Jesus said, “Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.” (John 17:17, LSB). The Scriptures are not a mix of human opinions or changing philosophies. They are the very breath of Yahweh, unwavering and eternal. As Psalm 119:160 affirms, “The sum of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous judgments is everlasting.”

In a world clouded by relativism and deception, Jesus identified the real enemy of truth: “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him.” (John 8:44, LSB). Lies and falsehoods are not just errors—they are the works of the evil one, and those who reject truth align themselves with his rebellion.

Yet Yahweh does not leave His people in darkness. He sends the Spirit of Truth to guide believers. Jesus promised, “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak from Himself, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.” (John 16:13, LSB). This truth is not stagnant—it continues to be revealed, applied, and understood through the Spirit to those who follow Christ.

To know truth is to know Yahweh. To reject truth is to reject the very character of God. Therefore, those who are of the truth listen to Christ. As He said to Pilate, “Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” (John 18:37, LSB).

(John 8:31–32 WEB) “If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free”
