Beloved brethren, we live in times of great uncertainty, but not without clarity from the Word of God. The Scriptures do not leave us ignorant concerning the last days. In fact, they speak plainly about the characteristics, the events, and—most importantly—the warnings to those who follow Christ.
The apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, saying, 'But know this, that in the last days difficult times will come' (2 Timothy 3:1). These are not just days of natural trouble, but of moral and spiritual decay. The chapter continues to describe men who are lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy. This portrait reveals a world increasingly hostile to godliness.
Jesus Christ Himself gave signs of the end of the age in Matthew 24. He warned of false messiahs, wars, famines, earthquakes, and lawlessness increasing so that the love of many would grow cold. He added, 'But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved' (Matthew 24:13). This is a call to perseverance.
Peter also reminds us, 'Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts' (2 Peter 3:3). Such people scoff at the promise of Christ’s return. But Peter assures us that the Lord is not slow about His promise, but is patient toward us, not willing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
The warning to Christians is unmistakable: be awake, be watchful, and be holy. Paul exhorts, 'Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need of anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night' (1 Thessalonians 5:1–2). We are called not to fear, but to readiness.
Revelation calls believers to come out from the corrupt systems of the world: 'Come out of her, My people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues' (Revelation 18:4). This is not only a physical separation, but a spiritual one—from worldly thinking, desires, and idolatry.
The Bible warns not only of external dangers but internal deception. Jesus said, 'For false christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect' (Matthew 24:24).
So what then must we do? As the end approaches, the call to live holy and godly lives becomes more urgent. 'Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness' (2 Peter 3:11). This is not a call to hide, but to shine—to walk blamelessly and serve with urgency.
Glory be to God, who has not left us in darkness. Our hope is in Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good works (Titus 2:14).
To God Be the Glory
